From the heights of the Himalayas to the heights of the kitchen, multi-starred chef Sylvestre Wahid continues his singular journey in the world of gastronomy. And it’s no coincidence that he chose Taureau Ailé to talk passionately about basmati rice, the “queen of flavors” as he likes to say. After arriving in France with his family at the age of 9, Sylvestre still holds images of his native Pakistan, in the foothills of the Himalayas, “where the best rice grows”.
It’s this sincerity that makes his speech so powerful. And his simplicity too. Discovered at the age of 15 by Thierry Marx at Cheval Blanc in Nîmes, Sylvestre Wahid has blossomed with the greatest chefs, from Alain Ducasse to Jean-François Piège, from Paris to New York. Now based in Courchevel, Sylvestre Wahid lent his rigor and professionalism to the stylistic exercise of a TV commercial. At Indiana, the shoot left us with some great memories. Between Sylvestre Wahid’s enthusiasm and the talent of director Christophe Carry, who masterfully directed the motion control camera with motorized arm, the result is worthy of the best rice in the world.
Many thanks to Joséphine Production for organizing this flawless shoot, and of course to Taureau Ailé for its confidence.
